NEGROS ORIENTAL ZIP CODES

The Philippine ZIP code is used by the Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) to simplify the distribution of mail. While in function it is similar to the ZIP code used in the United States, its form and its usage is quite different. The use of ZIP codes in the Philippines is not mandatory, however it is highly recommended by Philpost that they be used.

This article provides a list of Philippine ZIP codes in the province of Negros Oriental. The Cities that have become independent of the province are listed under the province they used to be part of (as is the practice for statistical purposes).

Learn more about:

The Philippine code is a four-digit number representing two things: in Metro Manila, a barangay within a city or city district (as in the case for Manila), and outside Metro Manila, a town or city. Usually, more than one code is issued for areas within Metro Manila, and provincial areas are issued one code for every town and city.

Sta. Catalina gets building to house station of police

In about four to six weeks, the municipality of Sta. Catalina in Negros Oriental, about 90 minutes drive south of Dumaguete City, will have a brand new, three-level concrete building to house its police department.

Provincial police director, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, disclosed that the project is jointly funded by the Sta. Catalina local government unit and the Philippine National Police.

The Sta. Catalina LGU donated the lot and also pitched in counterpart funding with the PNP national headquarter’s budget allocation for the building, whose total project cost could not yet be ascertained, Lawas said.

The construction of the new police station is part of the PNP’s Integrated Transformation Program, at which local government units are encouraged to donate land and possible counterpart funding, he added.

This is the first police station to be constructed in Negros Oriental under the term of Lawas, who said that other local government units are also lined up for the same project.

Basay, the southernmost town of Negros Oriental, whose local government unit had already also donated a lot to the PNP, could be the next recipient after a proposal for funding allocation will be approved by the national police hierarchy, Lawas said.

He added it is ideal for PNP stations to have their own designated building and not sharing the same with other government offices for security reasons, and to avoid putting civilians at risk.
